Description

Agra is one of the leading tourism destinations in India, getting global recognition for having the Taj Mahal and other interesting monuments like Agra Fort, Akbar Tomb, and Fatehpur Sikri.

This city was founded by Hindu king Agarsen, and by the name of the king, this city derived its name from Agra. This city was the capital of the Mughal Empire during the administration of the third Mughal king, Akbar, and its name was changed to Akbarabad.

Tourism and handicrafts are the popular industries in this city. In a single day, one can explore prominent sites in Agra that tourists generally visit. Some people book same-day trips from Delhi to Agra either by car or train for local sightseeing tours of Agra.

Also, some prefer to book the overnight trip to Agra for complete sightseeing of Agra city. A trip can be started from a local railway station, airport, or hotel in Agra. I started my Agra sightseeing day tour from our hotel.

We were advised to leave the hotel early in the morning for guided sightseeing of the Taj Mahal. This time is recommended for hassle-free sightseeing of the Taj Mahal in a peaceful environment.

The natural beauty of the Taj Mahal is amplified at sunrise time and mesmerizes visitors with changes in its color.  This beautiful tomb was constructed on behalf of Shah Jahan as a tribute to the untimely death of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal.

This beautiful building is an insignia of immortal love and a special tribute to the death of his queen, Mumtaz Mahal.  The marble used for the construction of the Taj Mahal was brought from the query at Makrana, using a fleet of more than ten thousand elephants.

Twenty thousand artisans infused their energy and thick sweat into the construction of this elegant edifice, situated on the right bank of the river Yamuna with its impregnable foundation.

You get immense time for photography of the Taj Mahal from different angles. After admiring the enchanting Taj Mahal, we drove back to the hotel for a fresh-up and breakfast.

Exhilarating Experience Of Agra Sightseeing Day Tour

Later we drove to Agra Fort for a guided sightseeing tour with an English-speaking regional tour guide. This fort was very historical and has many beautiful buildings and palaces inside its premises.

Our tour guide explained the brief history of Agra Fort and the Mughal dynasty. Here you can see Diwan E Aam, Jodha Bai Palace, Nagina Masjid, Anguri Bagh, and many other fascinating buildings.

We were taken to the backside gate of the Agra Fort for photography of Jama Masjid. The best feature of the Agra sightseeing day tour is the rickshaw ride on narrow lanes passing through the spice market, Namak ki Mandi, and the famous Mankameshwar temple.

We got a break for having lunch, and our tour guide took us to a local restaurant where we enjoyed delicious Mughal food. From here, we visited the tomb of Akbar at Sikandra, where the mortal remains of Akbar were buried.

Akbar started the construction of his tomb during his lifetime, and when he expired, the finishing work of his tomb was done by his son Jahangir. It has a beautiful garden in which you can see many deer roaming freely around.

There is a small gate in front of every entrance so that every visitor bows down their head while visiting his tomb. We saw a sura from the holy book Quran engraved at the entrance gate and four minarets made of white marble.

Here, cattle drums were beaten to honor the dead king. After ending our sightseeing here, we drove to the riverside garden, Mehtab Bagh, to watch a panoramic view of the Taj Mahal Sunrise Tour.

Here, a lot of tourists assembled to enjoy the sunset view of the Taj Mahal. Evening free to visit local Sadar Bazar to see the everyday life of Agra city. Here, the marble inlay factory is a very popular attraction for souvenir shopping.
